Royton & Crompton School, Saturdays, 12.00-1.15pm
Coaching Plan (10 weeks)
The content of our training sessions feature two main components – Individual skill development and theme based SSG’s (small sided games). Skill is encouraged, developed and celebrated. This enables children to become confident and enthusiastic about the game. These individual skills are then applied in a team environment through the playing of lots of SSG’s, which offer more player participation, more touches of the ball, more passes attempted, more 1v1's attempted, more goals scored & more goalkeeper participation.
The program we will deliver within our Saturday Soccer School is scheduled to run over a 10 week period, based on 1 training session per week. The program includes two assessments at weeks 3 & 9. The skills assessed vary dependant on the child’s age.
On completion of the course each child will receive a report which details their overall progress in relation to core competencies typical to their chronological age. A personalised engraved boxed medal is available to buy as an optional extra at a cost of £5. The medal will be gold, silver or bronze dependant on the level the child has attained.

Academy Register
Keep up to date with your child's progress here. After completing all nine sessions our academy recruits are able to take a final assessment. Gold, silver and bronze standards relevant to the child's age are the targets to aim for. Following the assessment, each child will get their own personalised end of course report, which will detail their overall progress over the 10 week program.
Skills Practice
Every week we will choose a "skill of the week" which can easily be practiced by a child at home under the guidance of a parent. Click on the video links below & follow the simple instructions..... Just a small amount of practice can yield major results!!!

Week 1 - Forward Sole Taps
Alternating feet and using a skipping type step, push the ball forward with light touches.

|
Week 2 - Drag Back Turn
You can often find yourself on the pitch surrounded by players with not a lot of room to play with. The drag back is a great turn to use when you haven't got a lot of space to work in. |

Week 3 - Inside Cut
One of the most common moves in the game..... Reach, cut, shield, accelerate. You're away!!! |
|
Week 4 - Outside Cut
Another very common move in the game. Reach, cut, shield, acclererate & you're away again!!!

|
Week 5 - Ball Rolls
Keep the ball in contact with the foot at all times. Use the toes, sole & heel of the foot to roll the ball backwards & forwards. Alternate between right & left foot
